Neerav Merchant in conversation with Livemint on RERA’s authority to deregister projects

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) last week canceled the registration of two Lucknow-based projects of developer Ansal API. The incident sparked debate on whether or not the RERA has the authority to deregister development projects. Neerav Merchant, Partner at Majmudar & Partners spoke to the business news outlet, Livemint on the matter and clarified the rules under which the RERA can acquire the authority to deregister ongoing development projects and the ramifications of deregistration.
