Majmudar & Partners is involved in significant pro bono and charity work. The founder partners of the firm established Hirani Foundation (HF), a not-for-profit company, more than two decades ago. HF’s focus is on education and healthcare.
Since its establishment, HF has given education grants and loans to various deserving lawyers students for their schooling, as well as graduate and post-graduate studies in various fields, including law and medicine. HF sponsored a scholarship programme for deserving law graduates to pursue higher studies abroad. HF scholars are now eminent practitioners in different legal fields, including public service.
On the healthcare front, Majmudar & Partners advises the Institutional Ethics Committee of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), the largest charitable cancer hospital in Asia, on various legal and ethics matters in relation to cancer research and related projects. From 2020-26, Managing Partner, Akil Hirani, served as the legal member on the Institutional Ethics Committee III of the Tata Memorial Centre. The firm and HF have both made significant fund contributions to TMC for the treatment of needy cancer patients and augmenting infrastructure.
The firm is a member of TrustLaw Connect, a Thomson Reuters Foundation, and undertakes activities for TrustLaw Connect.
One of our founder partners is a Rotarian at the Rotary Club of Bombay and makes regular donations to the club and the Rotary Foundation for community projects in Mumbai and in developing countries worldwide to empower and better the lives of communities.
Every member of our firm is encouraged to spend a few hours every month on CSR activities.
