Mr. Neerav Merchant is an associate partner in the firm. He became an Advocate in India in 1996, and a Solicitor in Mumbai in 1999. Mr. Merchant began his legal career as a litigator and real property lawyer. In September 2000, he went in-house with GTL Ltd. Thereafter, he worked as legal counsel at Tata Housing and Development Corporation Ltd and Patni Computer Systems Ltd. During his stints as an in-house counsel, he worked on various projects, including drafting and negotiating commercial technology and BPO contracts (from a supplier’s perspective) with large US and UK corporations, namely, Fidelity, the Coca Cola Company, Prudential Life, Metlife, Citigroup, Barclays Bank, Room Solutions, Serco, Tesco, Washington Mutual, etc. He joined Majmudar & Co. in January 2007. Currently, he advises clients such as Warner Music, Network Appliance, GTECH, MGM International, Lummus Corporation, Outokumpu (Finland), Trofe Australia, Management Consulting Group Plc., FTE automotive GmbH, Akka Technologies (France), Indra Sistemas, S.A (Spain), CMA CGM (French shipping major), Varian Medical Systems (US) on joint ventures, foreign investment, commercial contracts, real property, and dispute resolution matters.

General Corporate
- Advising Dealogic Holdings Plc and Management Consulting Group (UK) on corporate structures and compliances, and tax law issues in connection with its India foray
- Representing MP Biomedicals, Inc., a US company, in setting up its Indian subsidiary and related corporate, tax and employment issues
- Represented Helvar Merca Oy Ab, a Finnish company, in its acquisition of Hueco Lightronic (India) Pvt. Ltd
- Represented Tejari FZ LLC, UAE, in setting up its liaison office in India
- Advising GTECH Corporation on setting up its branch office in India, and related corporate and tax laws.
- Advised Product of the Year (UK) in its franchise agreement with its Indian partner

- Advised Akka Technologies (France) on setting up of its joint venture with the Kalyani group in India and related corporate and regulatory implications in India
- Advised CMA CGM (France) on setting up of its joint venture in India with the Adani Group and related matters.
- Advising FTE Automotive (Germany) in its joint venture and technology licensing transaction with SETCO.
Real Property and Disputes
- Advised Varian Medical Systems, a leading US-based company, in acquiring real property in Mumbai and Delhi for its commercial and operational use
- Advised Outokumpu, a large Finnish steel company, in acquisition of huge parcels of land for setting up of its processing and services unit on the outskirts of Mumbai
- Represented Trofe Australia in recovering its outstanding amount against a leading telecom company based in India
- Advising Smith International, Inc., Indian projects office, in its commercial recovery matters against Indian customers.
- Advising a leading US-based services company on its recovery matters and filing of appropriate proceedings before the concerned courts, etc.
